Journey detail

On the cross country train from Bristol Temple Meads to Edinburgh.

Departed on time at 10:33am

Full train. Half the coach faces forward and the other half faces backwards.

Something strange at Birmingham. We joined with another train with 4 coaches and at the next stop we had to move to the front 4 carriages, which had passengers. We had to stand for hours.

We reached York at 3pm.

We arrived in Edinburgh at 5:35.

We took 2 Ubers, one to get the keys and another to the aBNB.

Not the stairs to a dungeon, but to our aBNB.

Spot door 60. That is the entrance to the aBNB.

Across from the aBNB.

 June 23rd

Hot and sunny. Record breaking temperatures around Europe and the UK.

England 0 Ghana 0 in the World cup

We took the bus into town and then took the city tour.

We then went for lunch around the Grass Market area.

On returning to the aBNB, we went to the Abby pub. Very good food.

We had the steak and ale pies and Dani had fish and chips.

 June 24th

Edinburgh castle

Lovely day. Hot and sunny 75F.

We ate at the Blackbird. We had I had steak and chimichurry sauce.

Lovely location.

June 25th

Taking a train to Inverness.

The platform was announced 10 minutes before departure. There was a mad rush to get on as it leaves on time. All seated and left at 10:33.

 June 26th

Picked up a Renault van hire to explore and look for Nessy, in loch Ness.

We went to Black Isle and looked around. It is cooler here today. 67f and intermittent showers with misty in the hills.

We then went to Cromarty. Looked around and had a coffee and cheese toasty.

Then we drove to Loch Ness.

You try and take a nice lake photo and Nessy photo bombs you. So annoying. ;)

June 27th

Driving to Loch Lomond and Kinlochleven.

We stopped at a quait town with beautiful views. We had a coffee and watched boats sailing through the canal.

Onward to the Harry Potter train bridge.

Weather changed and was raining.

There were a lot of coaches and cars. As you have walk to the bridge and the weather was wet and misty, we decided to give this a miss.

We headed onwards. Beautiful mountain views with misty types and drizzling rain.

Stopped for a photo opportunity with a highland cow. Lovely.

 Then on to the aBNB.

Oh wow. Tim out did himself with this one. OMG. What a place, what a view.

Lovely meal at the local pub with cute of the river and elk grazing.

June 28th

Driving to Glasgow. Beautiful drive along Loch Lomond.

Narrow roads.

We went to an Italian restaurant called Sarti for a drink and booked it for dinner later. The pizzas were very good so 2 the lasagna.

We walked a short way to Malones Irish pub. We drank at the rooftop bar while we waited for our 6:30pm table.
